DiffWeb started with a simple idea: you should be able to talk to someone online without handing over your phone number, your email or your real name first.

This blog is where we will share what we are building and what we learn along the way.

What you will find here

  • Announcements: new features, changes to how the service works, and anything that affects your privacy. If we ever change what we store, it will be written here in plain words first.
  • Guides: practical, honest advice on chatting with strangers safely, keeping secrets secret, and spotting scams.
  • How it works: short explainers on things like end-to-end encryption, without the jargon.

What we will not do

We will not fill this blog with articles written for search engines instead of people, and we will not tell you a feature does something it does not. If something has a limit, we will say so.

Try it

You can start a private room right now. It takes a few seconds, needs no sign-up, and deletes itself when you are done.
